Estate cleanouts and downsizing help in Liberty, MO

When a house in Liberty has to be cleared, the first question is usually whether the city can just take it. A little of it, yes. A whole house, no. Here's where the city's service stops and where we start.

What Liberty's bulky pickup covers

Liberty residents with city trash service can schedule a bulky item pickup through Republic Services. Pickups typically run on Thursdays by appointment, with a limit of four cubic yards set at the curb by 7 a.m. That handles a few pieces. It doesn't handle a houseful, and nobody carries it out to the curb for you. Rules change, so check the city's page before you plan around it.

Donation comes first

Usable furniture and working appliances shouldn't go to a landfill. Dustin donates to local shelters and thrift stores. The Northland also has options like the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on North Oak Trafficway, which takes gently used furniture, working appliances, and building supplies.

Who coordinates the work
